Freight delivery for a shuffleboard table is manageable when you know the steps. Learn how to prepare, receive, inspect, and move a long table without damage.
Quick answer
Expect a freight shipment on a pallet, not a parcel. Arrange a delivery window, inspect the crate before signing, and have help and a clear path ready to move the table indoors.
Why freight delivery differs from standard shipping
A shuffleboard table ships on a pallet via a freight carrier. The carrier will contact you to schedule a delivery window, usually curbside or to the first dry area. You are responsible for moving it inside.
Long tables—especially 14-foot and larger models—may arrive on a tractor-trailer that cannot navigate residential streets. Tell the carrier about narrow roads, low branches, or gate codes when they call.
When the table is too long for your space
Measure the longest straight path from the curb to the final room, including turns and stairwells. A table that fits the room may still not fit through a hallway. If the path is tight, consider a smaller size or a professional moving service before delivery day.
Your shuffleboard delivery checklist
- Confirm the delivery window and access: When the freight carrier calls, confirm the date and time, and disclose any access limits such as narrow streets, low wires, or a long driveway. Ask whether the driver will bring the pallet to the curb or to your door. Write down the carrier's phone number and your delivery window; missing the call can delay delivery.
- Prepare the path before the truck arrives: Clear a straight route from the delivery point to the final room. Remove doors if needed, protect floors, and have two or more adults available to help move the crate. Measure all doorways and turns in advance. If the crate cannot fit through a doorway, arrange for the carrier to lower it to the ground so you can unpack it outside.
- Inspect the crate before you sign: Walk around the pallet and look for crushed corners, tears, or water damage. Note any visible damage on the delivery receipt and take photos before the driver leaves. If damage is severe, refuse the shipment and contact the store. Do not sign a clean receipt until you have inspected the crate; signing without notes can limit your damage claim.
- Unpack and check the table: Open the crate within a few days and inspect the playfield, cabinet, and legs for hidden damage. Keep the packaging until you have confirmed everything is intact. Report any concealed damage to the store immediately with photos. Concealed damage is hard to prove later; photograph the unopened crate and the damaged part before discarding packaging.
- Move the table into place: With helpers, lift the table by the cabinet—not the playfield—and carry it to the final room. Use furniture sliders on hard floors and avoid twisting the frame. Once in place, use the built-in levelers on the legs to make the table level. Level the table after it is in its final spot; moving it afterward will require re-leveling.
Product note
- The Legacy Shuffleboard Table: The Legacy Shuffleboard Table is made in the USA with a 1.5-inch butcher block playfield and heavy-duty legs with built-in levelers. Its solid construction means the crate will be heavy; plan for at least two strong helpers and a clear path to the final room.
